Dr. Levenstein is an economist who serves as Executive Director of the Michigan Census Research Data Center (MCRDC). Starting in 2008, she will also direct the Michigan Center on the Demography of Aging (MiCDA) Data Enclave. The MCRDC is a joint project of the U.S. Bureau of the Census and the University of Michigan. It operates a secure enclave for qualified researchers with approved projects to access confidential Census micro data. The MiCDA data enclave assists users of restricted data files related to aging, including files from the Health and Retirement Study (HRS) and sources that can be linked to HRS. Dr. Levenstein's own research focuses on the evolution of information systems and relationship with firm organization, historical changes in firm competition, information networks, contemporary international cartels, and the design of competition policies for a global economy.
