Hartford Center of Excellence in Geriatrics 2011-2012

a MiCDA Research Project Description

Investigators: Tanya Ruff Gure, Pearl Lee, Jeffrey Halter, Lillian Min, Gabriel Solomon

Funding: American Federation for Aging Research 2011-2012

The University of Michigan (UM) Geriatrics Center greatly appreciates the opportunity to submit this proposal for continuing support of the Center of Excellence in Geriatrics by the John A. Hartford Foundation (Hartford CoE). The UM Hartford CoE builds on the success of previous and current funding and will continue to focus on the development of current and future junior faculty to meet the urgent national need for academic leaders in geriatrics. The Hartford Foundation support will focus on academic geriatricians in the context of a broader UM Geriatrics Center program supporting geriatrics academic career development across a wide range of disciplines. We propose four candidates for Hartford CoE Support in the next year of funding, three physician scientists and one clinician educator. We expect that over 90% of people funded by the Hartford CoE at Michigan will remain in academic medicine.

Country of Focus: USA
