Carey Wexler Sherman, Noah Webster, and Toni Antonucci looked at social interactions and support networks for late-life remarried women who were caregivers to husbands with dementia. They found that stepchildren comprised the largest portion of negative interactions -- adding to rather than helping with the stepmother's caregiving burden.
