Dr. Choi studies inter-relationships among health, extended-family resources, and socioeconomic status, for aging populations. Her recent research focuses on extended-family members' residential mobility after older adults' health shocks, and the potential role of geographic proximity of the extended-family in caring for the aged. She also studies older adults' health and socioeconomic disparities depending on their retirement status, and the contextual effect of income inequality on older adults' health outcomes and its variations over their residential history in the area.
